The smaller sizes up to and including some large chests will be shipped with Fed Ex. Please examine it immediately upon delivery for any damages. We do not anticipate any damages but Fed Ex will not honor any claims made too long after delivery. The larger chests will be delivered as 'curbside delivery' via motor freight. The shipping company will call to schedule the delivery and someone will have to be home to sign for it. Please make sure to inspect the chest for any damages prior to signing the bill of lading. Once the bill of lading is signed the shipper will not honor any claims not noted on it.
Please allow up to six weeks for your chest to ship out. If the chest you order is in stock it will ship out in as early as 10 days. The chests ship out fully assembled and ship via FedEx or Truck Freight depending on size.
This solid hardwood chest will resist marring and scratching. If it does get damaged in severe use, it can be repaired because it is solid wood throughout. The natural fibers in the hardwood may slightly swell or shrink from season to season. As with all fine hardwood furniture, avoid extremely dry conditions (which may cause the grain to open) or a damp environment (which may cause swelling or warping). Direct exposure to sunlight over an extended period may cause the color of the wood to change slightly. To ensure that your fine handcrafted hardwood chest remains beautiful and functional for many years, avoid extended exposure to extreme humidity, dryness or brilliant sunlight.
My mom called crying to tell me how beautiful the chest was. I have not seen it myself. She lives in CT and I am in NC. A hope chest is something she said she has always wanted. It was a great weekend. My wife and I flew in that weekend after the chest arrived (at our granddaughter's). It was perfect. My son-in-law is a representative for office furniture and he was surprised how well the chest was made and at the quality of the finish. I finally got the cedar chest I'd wanted since high school. My husband gave it to me for my 70th birthday. Wonderful craftsmanship! Beautiful! I love it! I got the very useful slide tray and the engraved plaque, both great. The chest was well packaged, with no damage to even the box, and arrived several weeks earlier than I had anticipated.
